NURSING FOUNDATION
Overview
Foundations of Nursing is the genesis of all nursing subjects. The department aims to provide basic clinical skills and in-depth knowledge of the essence of nursing - the foundations. The development of clinical bedside skills for students is a major objective of the department. The novice undergraduate students are equipped to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the pre-clinical lab before they are exposed to real hospital situations. The department actively trains the students in the preclinical as well as simulation labs. Along with proficiency in basic clinical skills, the department enhances the communication skills of students through regular IEC activities in the clinical area. The learning experiences in the department provide a perfect base for first-year B.Sc. students.
Objectives
Develop understanding and in-depth knowledge about the fundamentals of health assessment in supervised clinical settings
Provide effective nursing care for monitoring the best possible clinical health in all aspects
Apply problem-solving techniques in nursing and participate in research activities of the department
Demonstrate the use of ethical values in a personal and professional organization
Adopting principles and methods of effective communication with patients, families, and other health team members.
Develop the best understanding of infection prevention including biomedical waste management
