Overview

The Community Health Nursing department of the college was established in the year 2021. Department is involved in imparting regular health education to the public of the rural & urban areas, in guiding the students.

The department involves training the students of college & school of nursing in the outreach areas of sithayankottai & viruveedu PHC in rural areas paaraipatti & saveriyarpalayam in urban PHC. The department actively participates in extension activities like nutritional demonstration, school health programmes, individual and group health educations, observation visits, involved in other national health programmes and health camps. Students are being involved in regular palliative care activities to the nearby rural and urban areas. At present the department includes qualified staffs who are fully involved in training students in Community Health Nursing in promoting health and preventing illness.

General Objectives

Identify the health needs and problems of the people.

Appreciate the role of nurse in rural community setting .

develop skills in planning, implementing and evaluating health care services to individuals, families and community in the rural setting.

Specific Objectives

The students will be able to.

Identify the health needs and problems of individuals, families and community.

provide comprehensive family health care by using the nursing process approach.

Demonstrate the ability to educate and counsel the community and school children using different approaches.

Assist in family welfare services.

Attend various clinics.

Recognize the health care delivery systems and their role in providing services to community.

study various functions and participate in the activities of primary health centre.

Identify the supervisory responsibilities of community health nurse.

Maintain records and reports.

Collect vital health statistics

Conduct project work.

Conduct medical camp.
